A herbalist has been doing her bit to promote the first ever National Herb Week.
Avril Casey is a member of the Irish Register of Herbalists, who used to work in Dublin’s Restore Health Food Shop, and has acted as chief coordinator and organiser of National Herb Week.
Taking place from May 23-29, the event was established by The Irish Register of Herbalists, a professional association for traditional herbalists in Ireland.
Their vision for this event was to engage with the public and host a range of events, including herb walks, workshops, herb talks, clinic open days, special discounts in participating outlets and much more.
In addition, it features the grand opening of a Physic Garden in St Anne’s Park, Dublin 7, which has been created by The Irish Register of Herbalists and Dublin City Council. The week also signalled the beginning of an exciting pilot project in association with national schools around Ireland; The Herb Patch aims to bring a herb garden into schools and to teach children about caring for and using simple, safe herbs.
